West called at 6:30 a.m. (US) just amazed at the tremendous amount of wind. I had already pulled up the wind report and just wasn't good news, any way you looked at it. In addition, Marat (Austin contact) had already emailed me to give him a call. Report from our guys at Procosta were reporting hurricane force winds, uprooted trees and more. West and Jeff decided to sit back and wait it out, laying on the back deck of their kayaks, to rest. A few hours later they started off again. All in, they paddled 50.6 miles today, finishing at 3:00 a.m. (Russia)!! They plan on sleeping about 3 hours and then starting out again. They should get relief soon. Looks like the winds will die down, gradually, over the next few days.
We are beginning to work on arrangements on getting the boats back to Moscow and to the airport for the trip back home. Any of our contacts along the expedition know anyone with roof racks in Moscow? If so, have them email me...thanks!
