Tomorrow is 1/2 day!

On day 33, we find the team even closer to the 1/2 way point. Up to this point, they have paddled 1142+ miles with 1157+ to go. They paddled 34.3 miles today with the day starting off on a river of glass. They made great time and had a perfect weather day. Then, they made their way into more of an "open " reservoir and were immediately sideswiped by the wind and just about dumped. It became more of a fight the farther they went down river so they called in a day and camped on river left. They were going to try to make it just past the little inlet they stopped before, but winds were too strong even to pass that small little channel. Safety prevailed...they stopped.

Tomorrow, they are going to set their alarms at 1:00 a.m. to get (hopefully) a 3:00 a.m. start to take full advantage of the glass-like river. They will arrive in the city of Olyanovsk and meet up with Stas and friends, there. They have a safe place to store the boats, will re-supply and get a good night's sleep before moving on.

Tomorrow will, also, take them on the downside of the 1/2 way point. Woo Hoo!
