Well, the team are less than 1000 miles away. Woo Hoo!
They are camped in a jungle after the Samara Bend. There are no beaches. The mosquitos are extremely thick. West said "thick as a cloud". There are many more mosquitos than they experienced on the Amazon River and even worse the during the Texas Water Safari. I asked about animals or birds and he said they haven't seen anything except frogs and the swallows.
They got a little later start than anticipated due to having carry their boats across the promenade down to the beach (twice). No worries. They paddled 47 miles despite the late start. At the start of this update, they already started their paddle for tomorrow by about an hour.
