Here is a short clip of the promenade in Astrakkhan.  West says the city is extremely clean, very nice and beautiful.  They ate dinner at a nice Italian restaurant.

Just because I think y'all need to enjoy another video of the team chatting in their tent.  This was a few days ago before arriving in Astrakhan.

Here is a short clip of the irritating gnats that are "in season" right now.  I say, in season, because they are only around for about two short weeks...or long, depending on where you are and what you are doing such as paddling down the river.  Pavel (Volgograd) has l...

West and Jeff arrived in the city of Astrakhan, Russia today after paddling 51.3 miles.  The river is making the boys a little homesick.  It has the same appearance as the rivers in Texas, especially the Tivoli area.  Very lush, green and beautiful.

Tomorrow, if all goes according to plan, the team will have paddled more than 2000 miles in their first descent of the Volga River.  As of today, they have less than 350 miles after paddling a whopping 61.5 miles.  West said it's amazing what they can do without the wi...

Pavel was gracious enough to send us a great group of pictures of West and Jeff as they were leaving Volgograd.  He and his brother spent some time with our team as they were leaving, taking pictures and helping out.

Found a little bit about Pavel Zhidov.  He is...

Now, I'm sure I've mispelled the names of these insects that are attacking West and Jeff as they camp for the night, so forgive me.  I'm waiting on the correct spelling so I can look them up and give myself a lesson on them.

Here is the information I receive...

Check out this bridge!  I'm speechless.

We'll be paddling under the famous "dancing bridge" tomorrow as we depart Volgograd. Won't be lingering underneath it, that's for sure.

You can read a little more about it here

West Hansen and Jeff Wueste are from Austin, Texas. Our goal for this expedition is to be the first paddlers to kayak down the entire length of Europe's longest river, from it's source in the Valdai Hills of Russia to the Caspian Sea, the 2300 miles (3700 km) will take about 50 or so days. Jason Jones will join the team in mid-May and complete the final distance with Jeff and West. Our first expediton was the Amazon Express, which we completed in 2012
