Today, at 1:41 a.m. (CST), West Hansen and Jeff Wueste, both of Austin, Texas completed the first descent of the Volga River in Russia.  The river proved to be 2130.09 miles (3427.31 km) from the source to the Caspian Sea.  It took 59 days...54 of those paddling.

West Hansen and Jeff Wueste are from Austin, Texas. Our goal for this expedition is to be the first paddlers to kayak down the entire length of Europe's longest river, from it's source in the Valdai Hills of Russia to the Caspian Sea, the 2300 miles (3700 km) will take about 50 or so days. Jason Jones will join the team in mid-May and complete the final distance with Jeff and West. Our first expediton was the Amazon Express, which we completed in 2012
